Bird Room

Welcome to my Bird Room, where everyday is a spring day.    I am owned by finches and parrots.  Each angel is special, and over time I have come to know who's chirp goes to which bird.  Not always an easy task when you have a large flock.

It is important to note that each bird has it's own personality, just like humans.  Some like to just hang out on my shoulder, or as in the case of Fuji, the noble macaw, on top of my head, some just like to be nearby and talked or sung to softly, and some like a lot of interaction with their hu-mom.  I have birds that are high activity and some that are pretty laid back.

General Bird Info:
I would like to share some general information about each species of bird that I am owned by.  The basic standard for each is to provide a varied diet, yearly vet checks, and plenty of exercise.   By doing these three things, it can increase the life span of your bird.    Giving them each lots of love fortifies the three basics.

Each bird is given a diet of pellets, veggies and some seed.  My veggie mix contains grains (rice, cous cous, bulgar wheat), beans/legumes (15 bean soup mix w/o the flavor packet), veggies (carrots, corn, peas, broccoli, and whatever is seasonal), and sweet potatoes (always cook these first before serving).   Eggs boiled for 30 minutes with the shells crushed are provided twice a week.  Spicy foods are okay, but be careful not to feed foods that are too hot (heat wise), as that can burn their crop.

As for cage requirements, provide the bird with as large a cage as possible (longer than higher), remembering they are more like airplanes not helicopters.  A good barometer is 2-3 times wider than the birds wingspan to cage a single bird.
